SPECTRUM SIGNAL PROCESSING INC. GRANTS STOCK OPTIONS

 BURNABY, British Columbia, August 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (NASDAQ: SSPIF; Vancouver: SSY), today proposed to grant stock options in the aggregate of 186,500 common shares to certain directors and employees of the company. The stock options are exercisable at a price of $9.90 per share, being the average closing price of the company's shares traded through the facilities of the Vancouver Stock Exchange during the preceding 10 trading days, for a term of five years from Aug. 6, 1993.
 The granting of these options is a continuation of an ongoing program to provide stock options to all employees in the company. The granting of the options is subject to regulatory acceptance. Shareholder approval to the granting and exercise of incentive stock options to directors and employees was obtained at the company's annual general meeting held on May 26, 1993.
