SPECTRUM ANNOUNCES ISSUE OF $7 MILLION IN SPECIAL WARRANTS

 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (AMEX: SNL.EC; Vancouver: SSY) (the "company") reached an agreement on Friday, April 16, 1993, with First Marathon Securities Ltd. to act as agents, upon regulatory approval, for the private placement of 1,000,000 special warrants at a price of $7.00 per special warrant. Marleau Lemire Securities Inc. will participate with First Marathon in this transaction. Each special warrant will entitle the holder to one common share of the company at no additional cost. It is the company's intention to take all steps necessary to remove all trading restrictions on shares issued upon exercise of the special warrant.
 Barry Jinks, Spectrum's president and chief executive officer said, "The company sought additional working capital to finance our expansion into vertical markets, such as our recently announced MWAVE projects with Texas Instruments and IBM."
