SPECIAL RULES APPLY TO ESTIMATED TAX PAYMENTS BY FARMERS AND FISHERMEN

PHOENIX, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Individuals who earned at least two- thirds of either their 1992 or 1993 gross income from farming or fishing can choose to pay all of their 1993 estimated tax in one payment on or before Jan. 18, 1994, the Internal Revenue Service said.
If an estimated tax payment is made, the tax return will be due on April 15, 1994. However, farmers or fishermen that file their 1993 income tax return by March 1, 1994, are not required to make the January estimated payment.
The IRS has three free publications discussing these rules. Publication 225, "Farmer's Tax Guide," and Publication 595, "Tax Guide for Commercial Fishermen," are now available. Publication 505, "Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax," will be available in late January 1994.
Call 800-829-3676 or use the order blank in the tax package to order the publications.
