Pianist David Kim, 16, of Los Angeles; pianist Hannah Yi, 22, of Chino Chino (chē`nō), city (1990 pop. 59,682), San Bernardino co., S Calif.; founded 1887, inc. 1910. It is the business and processing center of a diversified farming (notably dairying) area.  Hills; flutist Albert Pae, 12, of Anaheim Hills; and pianist Yoshiko Arahata, 15, of Arcadia won the annual Bach Competition and the Gail Newby Concerto Competition, sponsored by the symphony orchestra and its master chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in .

Kim, who won first place in the concerto competition, will perform Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major, Movement No. 1 with the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra during its 8 p.m. concert.

Yi, who finished second, will perform Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, Movement No. 1 by Camille Saint-Saens.

 recital beginning at 7 p.m. will showcase the Bach Competition winners. Pae will perform a flute solo, and Arahata will perform on the piano.

``Flights of Fancy'' will be the theme of the concert by the symphony, which will feature a second piece by Ravel, ``Le Tombeau de Couperin Le Tombeau de Couperin is a suite for solo piano by Maurice Ravel, composed between 1914 and 1917.

It is in six movements. Each movement is dedicated to the memory of friends of the composer who had died fighting in World War I.

The Feb. 21 concert is at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. , 750 W. Lancaster Blvd. Ticket prices are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors 62 and above and $9 for youth age 17 and younger. For tickets, call (661) 723-5950.

The Bach competition was started five years ago to promote achievement in the arts by young people, according to Dr. David Newby, the orchestra and master chorale's artistic director. The Gail Newby Concerto Competition is in its first year and is open to any young musicians.

Gail Newby, the late wife of David Newby, was the principal keyboard player for the symphony for many years.
