, to continue upgrading internal fiber network performance and cost-effectiveness at the base.

The SPAWAR facility in Point Loma is one of the Navy's five major acquisition commands, and is responsible for research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support for command, control and communication systems and ocean surveillance. The base has hundreds of buildings and labs conducting an extensive range of research and development efforts for the Navy. Calient's DiamondWave product will contribute to SPAWAR's mission by lowering operating costs, reducing network downtime, and increasing network flexibility.

SPAWAR's first DiamondWave switch was installed in 2005 and has exceeded expectations for efficiency and flexibility, prompting this follow-on order. The DiamondWave solution is a breakthrough in fiber optic cross-connect systems. It facilitates dynamic real time management and monitoring of fiber networks. With Calient's FOCS application, SPAWAR is able to simulate a greater range of fiber network architectures, and to switch quickly from one topology to another, in order to simulate numerous field and shipboard ship·board

"This will be an extremely valuable solution not only for SPAWAR, but also for other government and military agencies," said Tom Bennett, president of Cornet Technology Communications, a Division of Cornet Technology, Inc. (CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) Combining data with voice systems in order to enhance telephone services. For example, automatic number identification (ANI) allows a caller's records to be retrieved from the database while the call is routed to the appropriate party. ). CTI was recently announced as a new Calient OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  distribution partner to bring the DiamondWave[R] FiberConnect to government and military customers under the ClearWave brand.
