But Friday night's Sylmar-San Fernando showdown wasn't the most well-played game. There were 201 yards in penalties; a knocked-out referee; and an almost quiet 206 rushing yards and two touchdowns by Sylmar running back C.J. Gable in Sylmar's 28-15 Mission Valley League victory. The 10th-ranked Spartans (9-0, 4-0) clinched the league title and need only to beat Monroe next week to complete a perfect regular season.
