Sparks (4-9) update: The Sparks haven't had any success against the Monarchs, who are a victory away from a sweep of the four-game season series. Sacramento won 76-71 in the last meeting, July 8 at the Forum. The Sparks have yet to produce a winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

    Sacramento (4-10) update: In the last meeting, Tangela Smith Tangela Nicole Smith (born April 1, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American basketball player in the WNBA currently playing for the Phoenix Mercury. Highschool years  came off the bench to lead Sacramento with 20 points, and Latasha Byears added 18. Byears, who did not play in the first game between the teams, has averaged 15.5 points in the other two games. . . . The Monarchs' greatest advantage in the series has been the contribution of their bench players, who have averaged 35 points in the three games, including 44 points in last Wednesday's victory. . . . Guard Ticha Penicheiro ranks second in the league in assists, averaging 6.5 per game, and Byears is among the league leaders in field-goal percentage (.478). The Monarchs lost to Cleveland 61-58 Tuesday.
