 as they play host to the Detroit Shock The Detroit Shock is a Women's National Basketball Association team based in Detroit, Michigan. Debuting in 1998, they were one of the league's first expansion franchises. They are also the first WNBA expansion franchise to win a WNBA Championship.  for the first time this season. With nothing to lose, the Sparks (13-16) routed the Utah Starzz 87-67 Friday to give interim head coach Orlando Woolridge a 5-3 record. Lisa Leslie led the Sparks with 18 points, Katrina Colleton added a career-high 14 points and Penny Toler had a career-high 14 assists.

Shock update: The expansion team (15-13) lost its race for a playoff berth after losing to the Phoenix Mercury 84-59 Friday. The Shock was playing without guard Korie Hlede, who tore her ACL See access control list.
