SPARKS SLAM STORM WNBA: PARKER GETS 22 POINTS, INCLUDING ANOTHER DUNK. SPARKS 76, SEATTLE 62.

Byline: Gene Warnick

Staff Writer

As the Sparks were celebrating Tuesday's 76-62 victory against Seattle, 9-year-old Kolby Deziel of Pasadena was standing just outside the locker room, gently folding a youth-sized Candace Parker Candace Nicole Parker (born April 19, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American collegiate basketball player, playing for the University of Tennessee. She may be best known for being the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game and the first woman to dunk twice in a college  jersey on her knee.

Deziel, the daughter of the team's strength and conditioning coach, Bruce Deziel, also was wearing aParker shirt. That gives her asmany Parker jerseys as the rookie from Tennessee has dunks in the past two games.

It took six years for someone -- Parker -- to duplicate Lisa Leslie's feat of slamming in a WNBA WNBA Women's National Basketball Association

Parker, who helped cap Sunday's victory against Indiana by becoming the second player in league history to dunk, did the same thing Tuesday with 57.9 seconds remaining, sending the crowd of 8,032 at Staples Center This articlearticle or section has multiple issues:

"A lot of us have just seen history: dunks in back-to- back games," Sparks coach Michael Cooper
Michael Jerome Cooper (born April 15 1956 in Los Angeles, California) is currently the head coach of the Women's National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Sparks.
said. "What's impressive is the ease of it; she does it with one hand. Most women would have to grab it with two hands, but she just takes it off the dribble."

Parker didn't seem as excited about the momentus occasion as her coach or the crowd. "Obviously, it's great to do it in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and get the crowd hyped and energetic," she said, nearly repeating a phrase she uttered Sunday. It's something about that basket, I guess."

Parker scored a game-high 22 points Tuesday, including eight in the decisive third quarter, when the Sparks (10-3) outscored Seattle 22-10 to pull away.
