SOYO Releases Pentium III "Tualatin" Motherboard.

Business Editors/High Tech Writers

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 2001

SOYO SOYO Society of Orthodox Youth Organization , Inc. today announced the SY-TISU - an ATX See ATX motherboard.

(hardware, standard) ATX - An open PC motherboard specification by Intel.

ATX is a development of the Baby AT specification with the motherboard rotated 90 degrees in the chassis.
Universal footprint motherboard that maximizes performance of Intel's 815EP B-step chipset with support for Intel's Pentium III Tualatin Processors with 133MHz FSB (FrontSide Bus) See system bus.

FSB - front side bus
to 1.2GHz. The board will also accommodate Intel FC-PGA FC-PGA - Flip Chip Pin Grid Array  Pentium III, and Celeron Processors.

The SY-TISU is SOYO's first motherboard to feature Intel's new Pentium III Tualatin CPU CPU
 in full central processing unit

Principal component of a digital computer, composed of a control unit, an instruction-decoding unit, and an arithmetic-logic unit.
, which is the first Intel chip to use the 0.13-micron manufacturing process, which replaces the 0.18-micron process currently used for most PC processors. By miniaturizing the chip size the processor can run at faster speeds while it consumes less power and emits less heat. This makes SOYO's SY-TISU suitable for many high-performance applications.

SOYO's SY-TISU includes many advanced features such as Direct AGP VGA in 1x/2x/4x mode, a CNR (Communications & Networking Riser) connector, which saves a PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

expansion slot and allows the addition of a number of networking features such as LANs, home phone networking, DSL, and dial-up modems. The board also features onboard AC97 audio CODEC. The board has a list price of $99.

The SY-TISU is expandable to 512MBs RAM with its three SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  DIMMs slots, and features six 32-bit bus mastering PCI slots. The on-board super I/O supports two RS-232 serial ports, one parallel printer port, one floppy disk port, two Ultra DMA100/66/33 ports, four USB ports, audio line/out ports, game port, PS/2 Mini-DIN mouse & keyboard ports, and an IrDA port.

SOYO makes it easy to fine tune the SY-TISU for performance applications such as desktop video, animation or gaming with its jumperless Sofset configuration technology -- which allows users to configure selectable sets of CPU, voltage, and clock speeds directly inside the BIOS. SOYO's "Wizard On Hand II" allows to fine-tune the CPU FSB frequency in 1 MHz increments.

SOYO includes its Hardware Doctor Software package, which enables users to control and monitor their system at all times. The SY-TISU also supports WOL (Wake On LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. ) to simplify network management.
