SOYO Tek, Inc. today announced that all motherboards will ship with a CD-ROM bundle (3-in-1 Deluxe Extra Software Pack) that includes Symantec's Norton AntiVirus to protect board components and software from virus attacks, as well as Symantec's Norton Ghost disk cloning software, and Virtual Drive CD-ROM emulation application.

In addition, SOYO will include its own Speed Pro Utility, CD XPress, and Hardware Doctor Utility custom motherboard utility package with features, functions, and drivers designed to maximize the specific CPU and chipset. The 3-in-1 Deluxe Extra Software Pack with SOYO utilities has a retail value of $150 U.S. SOYO products can be previewed at the Corporate Computing Expo, May 18-20 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.

With Norton AntiVirus, SOYO customers will be able to quarantine or repair infected files, get help, and download virus updates over the Internet from Symantec. The program automatically protects a user's system against viruses as well as malicious ActiveX and Java applets.

Symantec's Ghost (General Hardware Oriented System Transfer) is a disk cloning software product. The disk cloning technique allows a system to be recovered in 2-5 minutes. Conflicts may exist between software applications, and if a software application is not removed thoroughly, Windows may not function properly, causing the system to crash. Often the only solution is to reinstall the entire Windows operating system. With Norton Ghost users will be able to rebuild their Windows operating system environment in just few minutes.

Symantec's Virtual Drive is a CD-ROM emulation application. It creates CD-ROM images on a hard drive (or network file server) with compression, and adds a new virtual CD icon onto the Virtual Drive Manager program. There is no need to search for CD-ROMs, no need to load CD-ROMs into a drive, and there is no need to wait for a CD-ROM drive to start up. One no longer has to change CD-ROMs in order to run other CD applications. Virtual Drive also speeds CD-ROM transfer rates. Typically, the transfer rate of a hard disk is about 11-16 MB/s. Virtual Drive runs on a hard disk and its speed is around 100X. On a system installed with Ultra DMA/33 hard drive, the speed of Virtual Drive may reach up to 220X that of a normal CD-ROM drive access.

SOYO's own custom utility programs allow for custom motherboard system and PCI clock speed setting without jumper switches, to easily tune their system to the highest performance. Each board offers 16 FSB / PCI bus frequencies from 66-100 MHz range. SOYO also includes its Hardware Doctor Software package with each motherboard, which enables users to control and monitor their system at all times. Voltage regulation is a key feature of the software, which allows seven voltages to be monitored and set with alarms. The CPU / system fan speed can be controlled in four steps. In addition an alarm for low battery voltage is included.
