SOYO's Seeks European Distributors; Introduces New Motherboard Designs for AMD and Intel CPUs, Centralizes European Operations to Focus On New Markets.Business Editors/High-Tech Writers OLDENBURG, Germany --(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 2001 SOYO SOYO Society of Orthodox Youth Organization Computer, Inc. has centralized its European operations to promote more aggressive growth, deliver more expedient and flexible sales and service, and to seek new distribution sources throughout Europe. SOYO also announced a family of new AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips. and Intel-based motherboards for the European market. SOYO Deutschland, GmbH, will now serve all SOYO customers throughout Europe with sales, credit/order processing, warehousing and technical support services. SOYO Deutschland GmbH plans to add additional management, sales and technical service personnel, which will allow SOYO to speed product delivery and offer better support services to large volume customers in all European countries. Multi-national companies will also have the flexibility to order product from SOYO Deutschland as well as from SOYO USA in California and SOYO's worldwide headquarters in Taipai. SOYO is also looking to partner with other companies, and is actively seeking new distribution channels and partnerships for its products and services. "SOYO has achieved one of the most positive export records for companies selling motherboard technology in Europe," said Ming Chock, SOYO marketing director. "European customers will now have the flexible logistics to source SOYO products from all of our locations, as well as receive support services from our European headquarters in Germany." New AMD and Intel Motherboards Enter Europe As part of its expansion efforts, SOYO will introduce several new motherboard designs to Europe this summer. New motherboards for AMD CPUs include the SY-K7ADA Ada, city, United States Ada (ā`ə), city (1990 pop. 15,820), seat of Pontotoc co., S central Okla.; inc. 1904. It is a large cattle market and the center of a rich oil and ranch area. , SY-K7VTA-PRO and SY-K7 DRAGON. SOYO's SY-K7ADA is designed for AMD's Socket A Duron/Thunderbird CPUs. It features Acer Laboratories Inc.'s (Ali) ALiMAGiK chipset. It can support a 200MHz or 266MHz system bus and is compatible with faster performance and more economical DDR SDRAM. The new SY-K7VTA-PRO features the VIA KT133 chipset, and 200MHz system interface. SOYO has also developed several system management and protection features to make its new SY-K7VTA-PRO one of the most innovative and scalable motherboards in its class. Coming in July is SOYO's SY-K7V DRAGON motherboard for high-performance AMD Thunderbird and Duron CPUs with VIA's KT266 chipset. The board's nickname defines its many advanced features. The "D" in DRAGON stands for DDR (Double Data Rate) Refers to an SDRAM memory chip that increases performance by doubling the effective data rate of the frontside bus. For more details, see SDRAM. DDR - Double Data Rate Random Access Memory memory support; R = RAID (0,1) on board; A = Audio on board; G = AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) A high-speed 32-bit port from Intel for attaching a display adapter to a PC. It provides a direct connection between the card and memory, and only one AGP slot is on the motherboard. Pro Slot; O = Overclocking Features, which are all adjustable via the BIOS; and N = NIC (1) (Network Interface Card) See network adapter. See also InterNIC. (2) (New Internet Computer) An earlier Linux-based computer from The New Internet Computer Company (NICC), Palo Alto, CA. 10/100 Ethernet onboard. For Intel customers, SOYO has released its new SY-TISU, which supports Intel's FC-PGA FC-PGA - Flip Chip Pin Grid Array 2 Tualatin CPUs. The board features Intel's 815EP chipset and uses standard SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them. 168-pin DIMM (Dual In-Line Memory Module) A printed circuit board that holds memory chips and plugs into a DIMM socket on the motherboard. See memory module. DIMM - Dual In-Line Memory Module sockets to 512MBs of memory. This fall SOYO will announce its Intel Pentium 4 motherboard in conjunction with the formal release of Intel's Brookdale i845 chipset. SOYO's SY-P4ISR (Interrupt Service Routine) Software routine that is executed in response to an interrupt. will support Intel's new Socket-478 Pentium 4 CPU CPU in full central processing unit Principal component of a digital computer, composed of a control unit, an instruction-decoding unit, and an arithmetic-logic unit. with 400 MHz FSB. The board will feature three 168-pin SDRAM 3.3V DIMM sockets with support up to 3GB of memory to make it one of the most powerful and practical boards available in Europe. About SOYO Computer, Inc.
