SOUTHWEST AIRLINES INCREASES CALIFORNIA SERVICE

 SOUTHWEST AIRLINES INCREASES CALIFORNIA SERVICE
DALLAS, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV)

announced that it would add 12 flights to its Phoenix and California schedule effective Nov. 4, 1992.
"The demand for our low fares is so high that we are adding more frequency as often as we can," said Don Valentine, vice president- marketing for the carrier. "Although we are not receiving any more new 737s from Boeing in 1992, we were able to lease a Boeing 737 to implement this service."
Southwest is adding two roundtrips between Oakland and Los Angeles, bringing to 11 the total choices of flights between the two cities each day.
There will also be two new roundtrips between Sacramento and Burbank, giving customers nine choices of flight times daily between the two cities.
One new roundtrip will be added between Phoenix and Burbank, bringing the number of flights to five between these two cities; and a new roundtrip is also being added between Oakland and Burbank, which brings to 12 the number of offerings between those two cities.
"Southwest is the fastest growing airline in California with 29 percent of the intrastate traffic, and we project that this number will only continue to increase as more Californians realize that its 'just plane smart' to fly Southwest's low fares and frequent flights," concluded Valentine.
Southwest Airlines, which was the only major airline in both 1990 and 1991 to post both an operating and a net profit, is also the only major airline which has been profitable for the last 19 years.
Southwest Airlines is proud to rank No. 1 in customer satisfaction of all major U.S. airlines (based on consumer complaints received by the U.S. Department of Transportation per 100,000 passengers for all of 1991.)
