SOUTHLAND: BRIEFLY : ROBBERS TAKE CASH AT ARMORED CAR FIRM.


Armed robbers forced their way into a Los Angeles armored transport company Saturday and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The robbery happened about 12:30 a.m. at Dunbar Armored Transport Co. in the 600 block of South Mateo Street in the downtown area, said Los Angeles police spokesman Mike Partain.

The dolls are based on the popular characters in the best-selling children's book, ``The Jester Has Lost His Jingle.''

The Jester & Pharley Dolls will be presented by Barbara Saltzman, mother of David Saltzman, the late author-illustrator of the popular children's story, and by Pam Fitzpatrick, co-owner of The Dollmakers, who designed the dolls for The Jester Co.

Saltzman's family formed The Jester Co. to publish ``The Jester Has Lost His Jingle,'' after the writer died of Hodgkin's disease Hodgkin's disease, a type of cancer of the lymphatic system. First identified in 1832 in England by Thomas Hodgkin, it is a type of malignant lymphoma. Incidence peaks in young adults and the elderly.  shortly before his 23rd birthday seven years ago.

Each police division will also receive several copies of the book for use at their stations.

About 11 a.m., the baby, identified as Kristine Castillo, was in the living room of the home when she was attacked by the dog, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Bob Killeen.
