`Wiseguy' Wahl arrested at bar

Actor Ken Wahl was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of threatening a Westwood bartender with a hunting knife after the employee refused to serve Wahl any more liquor, police said.

The 43-year-old actor of the television series ``Wiseguy'' (1987-90) was booked for investigation of making terrorist threats, said Officer Mike Partain. Bail was set at $150,000, and Wahl was unable to immediately post it.

Police were called to the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel in Westwood about 7:30 p.m. by the hotel bartender, who said a customer was threatening him.

Sheriff won't contest domestic violence law

County Sheriff Sherman Block says he will have to comply with a federal law that prevents people convicted of domestic violence from carrying a gun, including peace officers.

``It's not my place to debate the constitutionality of the law,'' Block said Friday. ``I think it's my place to abide by To stand to; to adhere; to maintain.

 the law as passed.''

However, Block said California does have a law that makes an exemption for officers while they are on duty.

Three officers, each convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence, filed a lawsuit Thursday in an attempt to block enforcement of the federal law. The officers claimed they should not have been reassigned to desk duties and had their guns taken away because their convictions came before the federal law was passed.
