A 28-year veteran firefighter who had a heart attack while battling a structure fire has died.

Capt. Kenneth Bayer, 52, of Agoura died Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department Not to be confused with Los Angeles Fire Department.

Police panel backs stiffer gun controls

The Police Commission voted Tuesday to endorse additional measures to control firearms in Los Angeles, including a requirement that gun sellers keep records of people who buy ammunition, including their thumb print.

New aircraft will speed LAPD tasks

LAPD detectives flying out to do prison interviews throughout the state and transporting prisoners will get there faster, more safely and with greater comfort after the U.S. Department of Defense donated two surplus airplanes to the city.
