The temblor was an aftershock of the 6.7-magnitude Jan. 17, 1994, Northridge Earthquake, Aller said.

Sgt. Bob Gardner of the Simi Valley police described the aftershock as ``one strong jolt, one slightly less strong jolt, and maybe a little shaking in between.''

Transit commission OKs spending plan

The California Transportation Commission approved its 1996 transportation spending plan Wednesday, including $75 million for Metro Red Line subway work in North Hollywood and the city's east side.

The money brings to $120 million the funds the state has contributed to 23.4 miles of Red Line work, which overall will cost $5.8 billion and run into the Mid-City area as well as Boyle Heights and North Hollywood before it is completed, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Sting ends in fraud arrests

After a lengthy sting operation, the owners and operators of five Southland medical labs were charged with offering and paying kickbacks for the referral of Medi-Cal business, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The defendants were arrested and charged after the state Attorney General's Office set up a ``dummy'' medical clinic with undercover law enforcement officials running the facility and hidden video cameras recording all the activities inside.

The defendants are accused of often asking the clinic operator to order more expensive and comprehensive lab tests than would ordinarily be needed.

Five people were charged: Carlo Luansing, 42, the owner of Latino Americano Lab in Pico Rivera; Hadi Angorsi, 36, the owner of United Health Laboratory in Temple City; Noune Oganessian, 33, a marketing executive for Health Line Laboratories in Los Angeles and Glendale; Lorenzo Devera, 37, the owner of Clinilab Consultants Lab in Sherman Oaks; and, Anis ANIS Association pour le Développement National de l'Internet dans la Santé

Actress sued by former assistant

Sharon Stone's former personal assistant filed a breach of contract lawsuit Wednesday, claiming the actress fired her, then stiffed her for almost $200,000.

Kristine Harlan claims Stone failed to pay her $175,500 in overtime, $10,312 in vacation pay, $3,000 in severance pay Severance Pay

Neither Harlan's lawyer nor a spokesman for Stone could immediately be reached for comment on the Los Angeles Superior Court complaint.

Harlan says she was hired by Stone in October 1991 and fired last April.

Club's camp sign-ups begin

 Club has opened registration for its second annual Summer Camp, which will feature a field trip to Universal Studios during the first session and a trip to Hurricane Harbor in the second.

Children attending summer camp will take part in a host of daily activities, including computer labs, games, outdoor recreation, swimming, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  programs and more.

The first session, which costs $207 for the first child and reduced fees for additional children from the same family, will begin June 24 and end July 26. The second sessions, which costs $180 for the first child, will begin July 29 and end Aug. 23.

The camp is held at Calvert Street Elementary School at 19850 Delano St. in Woodland Hills. The cost of participating in the field trips are included in the enrollment cost.

The club will halt enrollment after 125 children sign up. For more information or to register call 340-3561.
