SOUTHERN SECTION SWIMMING: HART SAVES ITS BEST DIP FOR LAST.

Byline: Nevin Barich Nevin Barich (born August 6, 1979) is a former American sports journalist now working as the Senior Editor of The National Notary, a trade magazine based in Los Angeles with a circulation of more than 300,000 nationwide.  Staff Writer

LONG BEACH - It took 30 years, but Steve Neale finally got to get thrown into the pool.

Neale, the swim coach for Hart High of Newhall, finally got to coach a championship team when the Indians won the boys' Southern Section Division II title Saturday at Belmont Plaza.

``When I first came to CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF).  30 years ago,'' said Neale, who at the time was Hart's assistant coach, ``I saw a coach get thrown into the pool because his team won. And I thought to myself, `Man, that is the ultimate.' ''

So, after Hart was declared the winner with 237 points, the team took one final splash in the pool, taking their coach with them.

``This has been a tremendous season,'' said Neale, the head coach at Hart for 18 years and whose team will move to Division I next season. ``When the dust settles, this is one of the best teams I've ever had.''

Hart was led by senior Mike Linn linn

, who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.85 and the 100 freestyle in 45.59.

``We were very fortunate to have Mike for four years,'' Neale said. ``Even as a freshman, we were having him swim all of our relays, all of the important events. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

who can replace him next year. I don't know if we can.''

Hart's David Deloria was second in the 200 individual medley at 1:54.03. Deloria, who will attend UC Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  in the fall, also finished third in the 100 freestyle at 47.19. Igor Bistric, who will join Deloria at UCSB UCSB University of California at Santa Barbara
UCSB University of Casual Sex and Beer
, was second in the 100 backstroke in 54.57.

Hart's relays also contributed to the title. The 200 medley team - Bistric, Sean Kakumu, Linn and Luke Hilmo - won in 1:37.95. Linn and Hilmo later combined with Deloria and Kent Klawer to win the 200 freestyle relay.

``We were one of, if not the only, school on the boys' side to have all three relays qualify for the finals,'' Neale said. ``They're that good.''

Matt Jensen of Chaminade of West Hills was second in the 100 butterfly (52.05) and third in the individual medley (1:55.41). His teammate, Blake Nilsson, won the 100 breaststroke in 58.70.
