SOUTHERN SECTION SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: ROYAL SOFTBALL TEAM'S WIN GIVES IT A FIRST.

Jennifer Troncali hit a double to left field, scoring Erica Andrews with what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning Thursday as Royal High of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  defeated Rosary rosary [rose garden], prayer of Roman Catholics, in which beads are used as counters. The term, applied also to the beads, is extended to Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist prayers that use beads.  of Fullerton, 8-7, to advance to the Southern Section Div. I semifinals for the first time in school history.

The Highlanders (27-2) will face Saugus, which defeated Laguna Hills La·gu·na Hills

--Chaminade 2, Savanna savanna or savannah (both: səvăn`ə), tropical or subtropical grassland lying on the margin of the trade wind belts.  0: Brianna Barth pitched her third shutout of the postseason, this time a three-hitter, as visiting Chaminade of West Hills (20-9) upset second-seeded Savanna of Anaheim (23-3) to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2000.

Chaminade scored both its runs in the top of the seventh when Lauren Christie started a one-out rally with a double and scored on a pinch-hit double by Megan Tupper. Kelly Korras singled, Tupper moved to third and scored on a Danielle Zymkowitz base hit.

--Alemany 3, Indio 2: Visiting Alemany of Mission Hills (22-6) capitalized on five Indio errors - including three in the seventh that led to two runs - to advance to Tuesday's semifinals against top-seeded Dos Pueblos of Goleta.

With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh, Natalie Moody and P.J. Solomon both reached on miscues and later scored when Laura Kratochvil hit a flyball to left field that was misplayed.

--Flintridge Prep 5, Village Christian 0: Senior pitcher Jenna Schachtner struck out 15 batters - improving her region-leading total to 302 in 146 innings - and tossed a two-hit shutout, as host Flintridge Prep of La Canada Flintridge (14-4) posted the quarterfinal victory over Village Christian of Sun Valley (14-15).

Rachel Gray had two hits and scored twice, Amelia Grossman drove in two runs and Ali Thompson tripled and scored for Flintridge Prep (14-4), which relied on a four-run second inning to advance to the semifinals for the first time in program history.

This devotion is predominantly used in the Roman Catholic Church and also used in the Anglican Church.
