Hamasaki (9-8) pitched five perfect innings, including a 1-2-3 seventh, as Glendale recorded its first playoff victory in 11 years.

``Heather was in bed the last two days with the flu,'' Nitros coach Kris Kohlmeier said. ``But today she had a sparkle in her eye. I knew she was ready to go.''
