SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: VALENCIA WINS WITH BURNLEY'S 330 YARDS.Byline: Daily News Charles Burnley rushed for a school-record 330 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Valencia (5-3, 2-1) to a 34-0 Foothill League victory over Saugus at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. . Burnley, who passed the 1,000 yard mark for the second consecutive season, scored on runs of 79 and 91 yards, and also had a 51-yard run. Yet it was a defensive play that got things started for Valencia. After an exchange of punts to open the game, Brandon Nichols' interception of a Travis Babin pass gave Valencia the ball at its 21. The fourth Valencia touchdown came when Christopher Vasquez intercepted a Babin pass and returned it 46 yards for a score, giving Valencia a 27-0 halftime lead. Saugus' (2-6, 1-2) best chance to score came in the fourth quarter, when it drove to the Valencia 9-yard line. But on fourth-and-2, Babin's pass fell incomplete.
