SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: ROYAL EMERGES FROM THREE-HOUR MATCH.

In a match that took nearly three hours between two of the best boys' volleyball teams in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, , Royal High of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  outlasted visiting Newport Harbor 15-13, 10-15, 15-13, 10-15, 15-12 in a Southern Section Division II quarterfinal game Friday night.

In the rally-scored fifth game, the Highlanders trailed 8-6, then tied the game 8-8.

Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  (22-6) started with a two-game lead but were forced to withstand a rally by Loyola of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  (21-2) in a 15-11, 15-11, 11-15, 9-15, 15-13 victory.

--Canyon of Anaheim d. Moorpark 3-0: Chris Sayers had 12 kills and 14 digs for Moorpark (12-9) in the quarterfinal loss at home.

Richard Nadas contributed 30 assists and Mike Lipka added seven kills for the Musketeers, who were seeking their second consecutive semifinals berth.

Moorpark jumped to an 8-2 lead in the third game. Canyon (12-6) rallied to tie the score 9-9 and ran off five consecutive points to open a 14-10 advantage.

In Division V matches:

--Viewpoint d. Cate 3-2: Andrew Chizever had 26 kills and 26 assists for Viewpoint of Calabasas (15-1) in a 11-15, 9-15, 17-15, 15-8, 15-12 comeback victory in a quarterfinal match at home.

Viewpoint trailed by two games and held off two game points before eventually winning the third game.

Nick Hinton had 21 kills and Hudson Brown added 46 assists for Campbell Hall of North Hollywood (11-5), which lost to Viewpoint twice this season.
