 Adrian Jenkins started his senior season by taking the Falcons' opening play 80 yards for a touchdown as Palmdale routed host Barstow 38-16 in the season opener for both teams.

Palmdale senior Justin Shaw's 41-yard interception return for a score sealed the game with 5:27 remaining. Palmdale finished with 336 yards on the ground and quarterback Rodney Trimm was 7 of 10 for 44 yards 7-of-10.

``(Jenkins has) been playing for us for three years at the varsity level,'' said Williams. ``Tonight he really established himself as our starting running back, which he hasn't really done. In the last couple years we've had kind of a running back by committee, but he kind of took the position over tonight.''

Barstow's Noble had 259 yards on 40 carries.

--Agoura 26, Buena 21: Agoura senior Bryan Walker was 28 of 39 for 392 yards and two touchdowns at home.

Running back Kyle Heath scored on a 1-yard run to put Agoura up 6-0. Buena took its only lead 7-6 on a 77-yard fake punt.

--Valencia 31, Bishop Amat 28: Sophomore quarterback Michael Herrick, making his first varsity start, passed for 400 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores as visiting Valencia rallied.

Brian Malette kicked a 29-yard field goal in the game's final minutes for the victory.

Valencia overcame a bad start, trailing 21-0 in the opening minutes of the first quarter. Bishop Amat (1-1) scored three touchdowns, all on long pass plays, before Valencia managed a first down.

But Valencia's passing game started to click, setting up two second-quarter rushing touchdowns by Herrick to make it 21-14 at the half.

A touchdown pass from Herrick to Weston Middleton on the first possession of the second half tied the game at 21.

A bad snap resulted in a 3-yard punt by Bishop Amat, giving Valencia possession on Amat's 35-yard line. A 21-yard pass play set up Malette's field goal.

--Royal 32, Chaminade 7: Danny Mosier had 14 carries for 155 yards, including touchdowns of 16 and 21 yards for host Royal. Teammate Matt Morris had 109 yards on 10 carries.

--Channel Islands 46, Newbury Park 39: Newbury Park scored all its points in the first half and took an 18-point lead into the third quarter but saw Channel Islands of Oxnard rally.

Junior quarterback Jordan La Fsecia was 18 of 35 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns for Newbury Park. He also threw three interceptions, including one from Channel Islands' 28-yard line with 12 seconds left, ending Newbury Park's final drive. Junior receiver Luis San Oja had 10 receptions for 159 yards and three touchdowns for Newbury Park. Senior running back Jeff Zavala carried 16 times for 80 yards and two scores.

Clarke Kress of L.A. Baptist of North Hills tied the game 7-7 on a 24-yard touchdown run with 5:54 remaining in the third quarter. Kress finished with 39 yards on six carries.

But Fillmore got two 5-yard scoring runs in the final five minutes.

Max Barroso rushed for 62 yards on 15 carries for Rio Mesa.

--Alhambra 21, Glendale 14: Phi Le rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown but it wasn't enough for visiting Glendale in a nonleague game.

Glendale (0-1) led 7-0 at halftime after Rick Martin scored on a 13-yard run with 12 seconds remaining.

After Alhambra (1-0) went ahead 14-7 in the third quarter, Le tied the game with a 57-yard run.

Alhambra scored to lead 21-14 in the fourth quarter. Glendale had a potential game-tying touchdown by Le called back on a holding penalty with 4:30 left in the game.
