SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: MARSHALL RUNS FOR 421 YARDS, 7 TDS IN ROMP.


Running back Jermaine Marshall rushed for 421 yards and seven touchdowns on just 22 carries to lead Kilpatrick to a 76-32 Alpha League victory over L.A. Baptist.

Marshall's scoring included touchdown runs of 57, 58 and 75 yards.

LAB quarterback Scott Swenson threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Lord Cole had 168 yards rushing and a 48-yard touchdown for LAB (3-3, 0-1).

Kilpatrick (4-2, 1-0) scored touchdowns of 59 and 57 yards on its first two possessions and finished with 661 yards total offense.

LAB wide receiver Daniel Neciosup-Acuna had 93 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

As productive as Lund was, the Notre Dame defense was even more impressive, limiting Bishop Montgomery to 57 yards total offense - 23 in the second half.

Bishop Montgomery (2-4) managed just three first downs and fumbled four times.

``We knew they had a big-play offense,'' said Notre Dame defensive end Alex Moss, who scored a touchdown on a blocked punt, ``and we came in here ready for anything they would throw at us.''

Notre Dame (5-1) had 269 rushing yards as nine players carried the ball and three quarterbacks saw action.

Backup quarterback Phil Beckmann and reserve tailback Miguel Armendariz scored Notre Dame's last two touchdowns on runs of 26 and 4 yards, respectively.

Calabasas quarterback Justin Fenchel found Matt Bernstein Matt Bernstein (born 1982-12-26 in Scarsdale, New York) was a football standout at University of Wisconsin-Madison, currently playing with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League after a stint in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions.  for a 27-yard completion on a tipped pass to key an 11-play, 76-yard opening drive.

Armacost set up the final Coyotes score with an interception five minutes before halftime. He then accounted for all 22 yards on the scoring drive, including 17 on a pass reception.

Santa Clara (2-4, 0-1) was led by running back Danny Chaparro, who gained 73 yards in 13 carries and Bebob Lopez, who gained 60 yards in 7 carries, including a third-quarter, 24-yard touchdown. - Shawn Clingan

Canyon 49, Burbank 8: The host Cowboys rushed for 434 yards and six touchdowns in the Foothill League opener for both teams.

Canyon running back Jimmy Perry Jimmy Perry OBE (born 9 September 1923 in Barnes, London) is an English writer and actor, most famous for devising and co-writing the BBC sitcom Dad's Army with David Croft.  rushed 14 times for 151 yards and three touchdowns, and backfield mate Colin MacNeil Colin MacNeil is a British comics artist, best known for his work on 2000 AD and in particular on Judge Dredd and other stories within his world like Shimura and Devlin Waugh.  rushed 11 times for 103 yards and two scores.

Perry scored on a 14-yard run, wide receiver Chris Jones caught a 51-yard scoring pass from quarterback Julio De Leon and MacNeil scored on a 3-yard run as the Cowboys (2-4, 1-0) built a 21-2 first-half lead.

Burbank (1-5, 0-1) scored on a safety with 44 seconds left in the first half when Canyon snapped the ball over its punter's head and out of the end zone.

The other Bulldogs' score came in the third quarter on a Romeo Joudi-to-Raymond Sanchez 30-yard touchdown pass. Chaminade 28, St. Bernard St. Bernard

Chaminade (4-2) had 151 rushing yards behind Dennis Mikulich (61 yards, one TD), Darrell Mason (53 yards, one TD) and Mike Mess (56 yards).

Defensively, the Eagles limited St. Bernard (1-5) to 118 yards and forced three turnovers. At one point, they sacked Peter Roses on five consecutive plays, pushing the Vikings from the Chaminade 15 to the St. Bernard 46.

Agoura 7, St. Monica 6: Running back Ted Gooch's fourth-quarter score was his team's only touchdown and defensive back Brad Altman blocked a late field-goal attempt to stop a three-game losing streak for the Chargers (2-3-1, 1-2) in a nonleague victory at Oak Park.

Agoura had just 28 yards total offense and one first down in the first half, but rallied for 182 second-half yards, including Gooch's 11-yard touchdown run to tie the game. Matt Smooke kicked the game-winning point.

Chargers sophomore quarterback Joel Arias got his first start on varsity, finishing with 5-of-14 passing for 91 yards and one interception.

St. Monica (0-6) running back Tommy Irwin gave the Mariners a 6-0 lead on a 69-yard run in the third quarter. But the extra-point kick was blocked. Irwin finished with 35 carries for 175 yards.

The Charger defense forced a fourth-and-goal situation from the 19 with one minute left in the game and held on to win when a Mariner's pass fell incomplete. - Brian Rappe

Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Jason Hogan led all receivers with six catches for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Steve Carballo caught five catches for 77 yards and rushed three times for 62 yards and a touchdown.

The Falcons also came up big on defense, forcing four turnovers and sacking Glendale (2-4, 0-1) quarterback Armen Dembekjian seven times. Linebacker Dan Morales Daniel C. "Dan" Morales (born 1956) served as Texas attorney general from 1991 through 1999, during the administrations of Governors Dorothy Ann Willis Richards and George W. Bush. As attorney general, Morales reached a $17 billion settlement with big tobacco companies.  led the way with two sacks and eight tackles, and defensive lineman Mike Childs added six tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.

The Mounties scored two touchdowns in the first minute of play and cruised to a victory over the visiting Kings at Valley College.

Montclair Prep's first two touchdowns were scored by Justin Goss n. 1. Gorse.  on a 13-yard run following a four-play, 70-yard drive and a 58-yard run on first down by Gary Sonkur.

The defense for the Mounties (6-0), keyed by Jason Spratt's two interceptions, held the Kings to 82 total yards in the Mounties' second consecutive shutout.

Jerome Dennis scored on a 21-yard run and a 67-yard pass from quarterback Jason Goss.
