SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: LA CANADA KNOCKS OFF MONROVIA.


MONROVIA - After half a decade of Monrovia dominance, a new champion took its place on the Rio Hondo Rio Hondo may refer to:

The loss ended the Wildcats' league unbeaten streak at 27 games and sent them into next week's Southern Section playoffs as a third-place team.

``This is awesome. We talked about how this is an experience the kids can take with them the rest of their lives,'' La Canada coach Rich Wheeler said. ``I got nervous just walking in the locker room today. Nobody can ever take this away.''

The league foes went back and forth, up and down the field, each team answering a big play with one of its own.
