SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: GOLDEN VALLEY'S WIN BREAKS LOSING STREAK.

Najee Coleman threw five touchdown passes as visiting Golden Valley snapped a 12-game losing streak with a 42-7 win against Hoover of Glendale.

Coleman completed 17 of 31passes for 241 yards and threw touchdowns of 13, 32, 9, 15 and 34 yards. Receiver David Malinoski caught six passes for 91 yards and three touchdowns.

Trailing 7-0, Golden Valley scored twice in the last two minutes of the first half.

 rushed for 102 yards on 22 carries, including two touchdowns, to spark host Newbury Park to the come-from-behind victory.

Early in the third quarter, Jackson Powell intercepted a tipped pass deep in Camarillo territory. Four plays later, Brown, who also caught five passes for 69 yards, scored on a three-yard run to put Newbury Park up 20-7.

The Scorpions would cut the lead to 20-14 on a two-yard plunge by Marcus Sanchez with 5:40 left. Sanchez completed 21of 40 passes for 160 yards but threw three interceptions.

Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  20, La Canada 14: Nic Wilkerson rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting Crescenta Valley in the opener for both teams.

Wilkerson scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter.

Crescenta Valley scored with a 1:53 left in the first half on a 2-yard run by Jake Galvan. The score was set up when linebacker Tyler Lopez intercepted Duke McCaffrey's pass and returned it for 16 yards to the 2-yard line.

La Canada took a 14-13 halftime lead when McCaffrey hooked up with wide reciever Brian Kimball on a 61-yard touchdown pass.

McCaffrey finished completing 9 of 19 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Kimball caught five passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

West Ranch 35, Lancaster 18: Ross Bacon rushed for 117 yards on 14 carries and twotouchdowns to lead West Ranch of Stevenson Ranch Stevenson Ranch, California (in the 91381 ZIP Code) is a Los Angeles County, USA, unincorporated community west of Santa Clarita a few miles south of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. The Stevenson Ranch fountain was redone in 2007.  to a nonleague victory over visiting Lancaster at Valencia High.

Jake Bernards scored on a 4-yard run to give the Wildcats (1-0) a 7-0 lead with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter.

The Wildcats extended the lead to 14-0 when Bacon scored the first of his two touchdowns, a 12-yard run, to cap a 54-yard scoring drive with 20 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Bacon added a 4-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

 Taveon Burke's 16-yard run completed an 80-yard scoring drive for Lancaster (0-1) that cut the deficit to 14-6 with 10:15 left before the half.

Burke rushed for a game-high 185 yards on 12 carries, including two more touchdown runs of 81 and 51 yards for the Eagles.

Agoura 27, Ventura 10: The Chargers scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to win their home opener over the Cougars.

Sam Bradley's 17-yard touchdown run with just more than four minutes remaining in the third quarter gave Agoura (1-0) its first lead. Bradley also had a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

Adam Azoff, who had 96 yards rushing on just nine carries, added a 23-yard scoring run.

Doug Shumway completed 10 of 20 passes for 101 yards for Agoura and carried eight times for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Four lost fumbles, an interception and a blocked punt overshadowed a strong defensive effort for Burroughs (0-1). Josh Velandria blocked two Schurr field-goal attempts and the defense stopped Schurr on two occasions inside the 5-yard line on fourth-and-goal.
