SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP: BURROUGHS OPENS WITH LEAGUE WIN.

Michael Perez rushed for 127 yards and Gabriel Moise Jr. ran for 115 Friday to keep Burroughs High undefeated with a 34-10 victory over Canyon in their Foothill League opener.

Perez scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving, and Moise rushed for another TD as the Indians of Burbank improved to 4-0, 1-0. Canyon fell to 2-4, 0-1.

On the fourth play of the game, Perez caught a 69-yard pass from Adam Freeman, who completed 5 for 8 for 153 yards. At the end of the first half, Sean Coen caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Nate Longshore Nate Longshore (born June 30, 1986 in Canyon Country, California, U.S.) is an American football quarterback for the California Golden Bears. Longshore was an Elite-11 quarterback in high school and a 4-star recruit rated by Rivals.com and Scout.com."How Far ... , who finished 8 of 17 for 134 yards.

On Burroughs' opening possesion of the third quarter, Moise ran for 52 yards.

Alex Baird rushed for 130 yards on 17 carries including a 5-yard touchdown run for Agoura, which improved to 4-2, 2-1. The Chargers also scored on a 13-yard fumble rooski by Jared Smits.

Ken Dehler led the Pioneers (0-6, 0-2) with 129 yards on 14 carries, including touchdowns runs of 4 and 24 yards.

Simi Valley was held to just five yards passing and was intercepted twice.

Lombardo connected with Justin Giles on a 10-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter to cut the Rangers' lead to 21-7. Lombardo's 8-yard scoring pass to Kyle Kelpacki in the third quarter made it 35-13 Norhoff. Lombardo was 15 of 27 for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

--Valley Chr. 48, Calabasas 6: Chase Twedell rushed 16 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns to lead Valley Christian of Cerritos to a nonleague win.

Calabasas (1-5) scored the first time it touched the ball when Alex Rosenblum returned a punt 65 yards, but that was all the Coyotes mustered.

Twedell scored on runs of 75, 59, 54 yards and had a 26-yard touchdown reception. Crusaders quarterback Taylor Cameron finished 13-of-18 passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

Facing a 21-3 deficit after Carpinteria (3-2-1, 0-0-1) scored on its opening possession of the second half, the Eagles (4-1-1, 0-0-1) seemed incapable of enough offense to come back as one possession after another ended in failure.

But suddenly, they couldn't be stopped. Receiver Matt Koller (10 catches 142 yards) scored the first Eagles touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Brendon Anderson (21 of 38, 282 yards) with 1:59 left in the third quarter.

The next Eagles possession ended with Anderson scoring from 40 yards out, then connecting with Greg Pizinger on a 2-point PAT pass to pull within three points the Warriors.

Stymied on their remaining possessions, the Eagles threatened but had to settle for a field goal and the tie on Mote McNair's 37-yard boot, his second of the game, with 1:39 left.

--Montclair Prep 24, Kilpatrick 0: Scoring all three touchdowns and rushing for 190 yards, junior Dal Johnson led the Mounties of Van Nuys (5-0) to their fifth consecutive victory over the Mustangs (3-2) in a nonleague game at Valley College.

After a scoreless first quarter, an injury to Mounties middle linebacker Travis Russ seemed to spark Montclair. --Palmdale 28, Littlerock 10: Sean Edwards rushed for 156 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the host Falcons (3-3, 1-0) to an easy victory in a Golden League opener.

Edwards scored on runs of 68 and 13 yards. His 68-yard run came in the second quarter, helping Palmdale build a 21-7 halftime lead.

The Falcons led 14-0 after one quarter following two Littlerock (0-5, 0-1) turnovers. Williams scored on runs of 12, 15, 9 and 65 yards and had 22 carries for 178 yards. His first two scores came in the first half, and his third touchdown broke open the game in the third quarter.

One of the few highlights for Lancaster (1-5, 0-1) was quarterback Tim Culver's two-touchdown performance; he threw scores of 26 and 55 yards. Overall, he was 10 of 17 but threw three interceptions. The Eagles had six turnovers.

Paraclete won its 21st consecutive league game as it rolled up 538 yards total offense.

The Crusaders (3-3, 0-1) of Sun Valley were led by the passing combination of Casey Fritts and Austin Lagasse. Fritts attempted 42 passes, completing 22 for 265 yards. Lagasse caught 11 passes for 175 yards, including touchdowns of 35 and 33 yards.
