Senior Derek Goodman did the most damage. Goodman scored on a 35-yard touchdown pass, intercepted a pass for a 45-yard score and then had another reception for a 10-yard touchdown as Alemany took an 18-7 halftime lead.

``We wanted to score early and get them rattled,'' coach Jim Bonds said. ``It worked against a team that hadn't allowed a point in six straight games.''

Alemany (5-3) ended the streak early, striking with a trick play A trick play, also known as a gadget play, is a play in American football that uses deception and unorthodox strategies to fool the opposing team. Trick plays are highly risky, usually with a large potential for a loss of yards or turnover, but the payoff is often high with  midway through the first quarter. Deon Scott caught a screen pass from quarterback Casey Clausen Casey Clausen (born January 9, 1981) is a former American football player who played college football for the University of Tennessee. He took over the starting position from A.J. Suggs.  and then hurled it 35 yards to Goodman in the end zone, somehow finding room between three defenders.

Less than a minute later, Goodman ran back the interception for a touchdown and later caught his touchdown pass to put St. Paul into a deep first-half hole.

``This is the greatest game I've been part of,'' Bonds said.

Canyon 27, Burroughs 24: The Cowboys rallied from a 17-point deficit for a road win over Burroughs.

Trailing 24-7 with 4:41 remaining in the first half, quarterback Jason McKeon engineered three scoring drives in a span of 16 minutes to clinch the game for the Cowboys (6-2, 3-0).

``I have confidence in this team,'' McKeon said. ``I knew we would pull it out even when we were down by 17.''

Quarterback Joe Kroells led Burroughs on a 13-play, 52-yard drive with 2:13 remaining in the game, but the drive stalled on Canyon's 13-yard line. This set up a 29-yard field goal attempt to tie the game, but the kick went wide right as time expired.

McKeon was the workhorse for Canyon. He carried the ball 20 times for 92 yards and completed 5 of 10 passes for 50 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Derwin Maxwell with 39 seconds remaining in the first half.

Arcadia remains atop the Pacific League at 3-0 and is 6-2 overall.
