SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS' TENNIS: ANOTHER TOUGH PATH FOR POWERS.

LOS ALAMITOS Los Alamitos (lôs ăləmē`təs, lŏs), city (1990 pop. 11,676), Orange co., NE of Long Beach, S Calif., in a suburban area; inc. 1960. Los Alamitos Racetrack and U.S. military installations are nearby.  -- Different year, same path to the Southern Section finals for area girls' tennis powers Calabasas and Harvard-Westlake of Studio City.

For the third year in a row, Harvard-Westlake (11-6) found itself in the same quarter of the draw as Corona del Mar Del Mar is the name of several places in the United States of America:

``It's an awfully hard draw, but oh well, it is what it is,'' said Calabasas coach Kim Kinberg, whose team defeated potential quarterfinal opponent Peninsula 80-73 on games Oct. 18, following a 78-62 victory over the Panthers when the teams tied 9-9 in the 2004 Div. I final. ``There needs to be some more variety. We're all in the same side of the draw again.''

Corona del Mar (21-0), a semifinalist the past two years, received the top seed in Div. I and would likely face Harvard-Westlake and No. 4 Calabasas -- which plays host to Chaminade of West Hills (11-6) in Thursday's opener -- en route to the Nov. 20 final at the Claremont Club.

``It probably would've been better to (be the No. 2 entry),'' said Harvard-Westlake coach Chris Simpson Christopher Patrick Simpson (born 9 January, 1982) in Brisbane, Queensland, is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Queensland Bulls in Australian domestic cricket. He is a right arm offbreak bowler and right handed batsman.

Marlborough of Los Angeles (12-2) received the top seed in Div. II and Quartz Hill (19-1) is the No. 3 seed in Div. IV. Both will play winners of wild-card matches Thursday.

Campbell Hall of North Hollywood (10-4) and Valencia (16-1) were awarded the No. 4 seeds in Divs. II and III. Campbell Hall opens against Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga (20-3) and Valencia plays host to a wild-card winner.

``I couldn't have asked for anything better, but I do get scared of the teams I've never heard of,'' said Campbell Hall coach Steve Kuechel, whose team won Div. III titles in 2003-04. ``I feel like I'm going in blindfolded blind·fold
