SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS' BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS: CAMARILLO WINS ON FREE THROWS.

Junior forward Samantha Hinde made two free throws with 41 seconds left and host Camarillo High held off a late rally by Mission Viejo to win 48-47 on Saturday in a Southern Section Division I-A playoff game.

The foul that put Hinde at the free-throw line also sent Mission Viejo's leading scorer, Adrienne Zielasko (21 points), to the bench with her fifth foul just when her team needed her most.

With Zielasko on the bench, Mission Viejo (15-12) wanted to get the ball inside to center Vanessa Dominguez, who finished with 18 points.

DIV. I-A

--Royal 80, Channel Islands 46: Kelly Winther scored 18 points and Valerie Quinn added 13 for host Royal of Simi Valley (23-3) in a first-round game.

Royal shot 54 percent from the field and made 13 of 17 free throws. Channel Island was outrebounded 41-14 and was held to 27 percent shooting.

--Crescenta Valley 60, Century 35: Jeanine Deno scored 33 points for host Crescenta Valley in a first-round victory over Century of Santa Ana (14-13).

Crescenta Valley (22-5) opened with a full-court press, causing eight first-quarter turnovers, to help it to a 12-3 lead at the end of the period. Crescenta Valley held Century to 1-of-10 shooting in the quarter.

Crescenta Valley outscored Century 29-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.

DIV. II-AA

--Norco 69, Antelope Valley 39: Laci Frazier scored nine of her team-high 11 points in the first half and finished with 12 rebounds but it wasn't enough for visiting Antelope Valley.

Antelope Valley (12-15) opened the second half with a 14-4 run, including 3-point baskets by Ebony Howard and Frazier to narrow the lead to 36-28 with 5:37 remaining in the third quarter. Howard finished with seven points.

Erika Arriaran, a junior point guard who is being recruited by several Division I colleges, had a game-high 22 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals for Norco (24-3).

``We threw different presses at her and nothing frazzled her,'' Antelope Valley coach April Davenport said, referring to Arriaran. ``She sees the court so well and makes the players around her so much better and doesn't waste a dribble if she doesn't have to.''

--Alemany 61, Atascadero 38: Host Alemany of Mission Hills (21-7) used a full-court press throughout the second-round game and forced 25 turnovers.

The defensive effort translated to 19 layups and a 25-for-46 (54 percent) night overall from the field.

--Harvard-Westlake 69, Beaumont 54: Visiting Harvard-Westlake of Studio City had four players score in double figures in an opening-round victory.

Stefanie Clark had 15 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Nikki Sisto also scored 15 points and added eight rebounds. Amanda Maddahi had 11 points for the Wolverines (24-3).

--Bell-Jeff 72, Sherman Indian 37: Angie Coronado scored 19 points, Idessa Reyes had 16 and Julie Van Dyke added 13 for visiting Bell-Jeff of Burbank (21-4), which led 50-17 at halftime.
