WALNUT - Allyson Felix Allyson Felix (born November 18, 1985 in Los Angeles, California) is a track and field sprint athlete, competing internationally for the United States in the 200 meters. Felix, born and raised in southern California, is also a devout Christian and is the daughter of an ordained , one of the country's top girls' high school sprinters, easily won her 100-meter heat Saturday, but even she couldn't control the wind.

Felix, a senior at L.A. Baptist of North Hills, crossed the line in 11.48 seconds, which would have broken the Division IV record by almost a half-second, but the wind reading of 2.5 meters per second exceeded the limit, so Felix was denied the record at the Southern Section preliminary meet at Mt. Felix also won the 200 in 24.07, just one-hundredth of a second off her own division record, and she ran into a head wind of 2.2 meters per second. Felix didn't get any individual records but anchored L.A. Baptist's division-record-setting 400 relay and put herself in great position for the finals next Saturday.

``I definitely feel like I'm right on track,'' Felix said. ``I think I'm ready I'm Ready is the double platinum second release from R&B singer Tevin Campbell. I'm Ready yielded the biggest R&B hit of his career the #1 R&B smash "Can We Talk", and produce 3 more successful hits in "I'm Ready", "Always In My Heart" and "Don't Say Goodbye Girl".  for next week. I think the 200 is definitely my better race, but I feel pretty confident in both right now. I feel good, and it's just good to get qualifying over with and go on to next week.''

Felix anchored L.A. Baptist's record-setting 400 relay (47.64) and ran the third leg on the 1,600-relay team (4:03.50), which qualified first. Her time in the 100 was 0.89 ahead of second-place qualifier qual·i·fi·er

The unofficial title of fastest male athlete at the preliminary meet also went to a local, Oaks Christian of Westlake Village freshman Aaron Ware, who won the 100 in 10.90 seconds, one-hundredth of a second ahead of Harvey Thomas of Paraclete of Lancaster. Thomas edged Ware in their 200 heat and qualified first in 22.19. Ware was fifth overall in 22.24.

``I wanted to get 10.84 (in the 100), but I didn't get out very well,'' Ware said. ``Today, I just didn't feel it, and the timer timer,

Oaks Christian's Cherhara Shields has competed in the high jump for less than two months but jumped 4 feet, 10 inches to tie for the best mark with five other girls.

Shields, a junior, made the preliminary jump of 5-8 on her second attempt but needed a third jump to reach 4-10 and earn an automatic spot in the regional finals.

``I play basketball and I can jump pretty well, so the coaches said, `Why not try the high jump?' '' Shields said. ``I didn't think I could do it at first, but then I practiced hard and I started making some jumps.''

L.A. Baptist senior Erik Amdisen finished with the second-best time in the 3,200 (10:00.27) and the sixth-best time in the 1,600 (4:31.91) despite recovering from a severe case of bronchitis bronchitis (brŏnkī`tĭs), inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bronchial tubes. Amdisen, also a standout cross country runner, seemed more comfortable in the 3,200, when he ran with an easy stride and led the field for half of the race and eventually finished second.
