SOUTHERN SECTION BOYS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: BIG WIN GETS HART INTO SEMIFINALS.

Byline: Daily News

Eager to remove its stigma as a playoff bust, the Hart High of Newhall boys' basketball team has advanced to the Southern Section Div. I-A quarterfinals for the first time since 1984 after defeating visiting Riverside Poly 73-52 on Tuesday.

Hart (25-3), which has never won a basketball championship, plays at Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  (19-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

``This is a great feeling. That's all I can say,'' guard Brandon McQueen said. ``We took care of the ball and made it happen tonight.''

McQueen scored 16 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer to start the second half, as Hart went on a 13-2 run to begin the third quarter.

Adam Rich Adam Rich (born on October 12 1968) is an American actor born in Brooklyn, New York City. He is arguably best remembered for playing youngest son Nicholas Bradford on the 1970s television drama Eight is Enough  added 21 points, Ryan Wolfe Ryan Wolfe is a fictional character in the show , portrayed by American actor Jonathan Togo. Rich gave a Hart a lift late in the first quarter when he stole a pass, dribbled the length of the floor, then dunked over two defenders to pull Hart within one point.

Riverside Poly (21-8) didn't score again for three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. But Riverside Poly's Josh Lopez hit three 3-pointers over the final two minutes of the second quarter for a 32-32 halftime tie.

Lopez scored 17 first-half points - including five 3-pointers - as several defenders took turns guarding him. But he was quieted in the second half and finished with 23.

Riverside Poly probably would have preferred a slower pace. The visitors entered with an average of just 41.2 points allowed per game - the lowest in school history. Seven of its 21 victories this season have seen Riverside Poly hold opponents to fewer than 40 points; four finished with fewer than 30.

``We thought a faster pace would work tonight. I guess we were wrong,''Lopez said.

The victory couldn't have come on a better night for Hart coach Tom Kelly People named Tom Kelly include:

, who celebrated his 35th birthday. Over the past three years, three- time Foothill League champion Hart has won 90 percent of its league games, but had never advanced past the second round of the playoffs.

Campbell Hall responded with a 13-2 run, including two free throws by Anthony Walker to make it 59-56 with 1:26 left. That was before St. Bernard made five of eight free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

``We are hurting right now, but when you look back at the season, it has been an incredible journey,'' Campbell Hall coach Terry Kelly said. ``I am not taking anything away from St. Bernard, they have great shooters but they just shot the lights out tonight.''
