Top-seeded Quartz Hill entered Tuesday's Southern Section baseball playoff game full of confidence. At day's end, however, the Rebels were left only with a sense of disappointment.

For the second time in as many seasons, Quartz Hill was upset by an underdog, this time 11-9 by host Centennial of Corona in a Div. II game.

The Rebels began quickly, scoring five runs in the first three innings. But the Huskies answered, scoring six runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth to take an insurmountable lead.

In Div. II:

--Crespi 7, Sonora 2: Crespi High of Encino sophomore pitcher Mike Gilmartin had an easy job, thanks to help from his teammates, who scored seven runs off seven hits in the first inning in the second-round victory at Valley College.

Sonora starter Eric Hale retired the first two batters of the game but Trevor Plouffe doubled to right, the first of seven consecutive hits with two outs. After freshman Sean Camacho hit a two-run homer to left field for a 7-0 lead, Hale was lifted.

``This was a pretty big win,'' Gilmartin said. ``I had a feeling we'd be here. We've been playing well.''

Crespi (24-6) has won six consecutive elimination games.

--Valencia 6, El Dorado 4: Jared Clark hit two home runs, finishing 2 for 4 with five RBI, and teammate Matt Aidem pitched six innings to earn his 10th victory of the season in the victory for host Valencia (22-6).

--Thousand Oaks 4, Temecula Valley: Chad Lundahl stole home and finished 2 for 2 with an RBI for visiting Thousand Oaks (23-6), which advances to Friday's quarterfinals against Arroyo Grande.

In Div. III:

--Harvard-Westlake 4, Ocean View 3: Gabe Cohen's check-swing single along the third-base line scored Frank Pfister from third with the tie-breaking run as Harvard-Westlake of Studio City rallied for another playoff victory at Balboa Park.

Harvard-Westlake (18-8) won its fifth consecutive one-run game and overcame a 2-0 first-inning deficit as the Wolverines advanced to the quarterfinals in their first playoff appearance since 1992.

--Chaminade 6, Nogales 0: Jim Rapoport's two-run home run highlighted a five-run first inning for visiting Chaminade of West Hills (19-10), which will play Westminster on Friday in the quarterfinals.

In Div. IV:

--La Quinta 3, Malibu 0: Sophomore pitcher Jamie Van Soelen held visiting La Quinta, ranked No. 7 in country and No. 1 in Div. IV, to three runs on six hits while striking out seven in a second-round victory for host Malibu (13-10-1).

In Div. V:

--Paraclete 6, San Jacinto 5: Dan Fluharty's home run proved to be key as Paraclete of Lancaster nearly squandered a five-run lead, eventually winning at home.

In Div. VI:

--Faith Baptist 11, Twin Pines 0: Anthony Petterson pitched a no-hitter, striking out 11 for visiting Faith Baptist of Cangoa Park (20-4).
