 full of confidence. At day's end, however, the Rebels were left only with a sense of disappointment.

For the second time in as many seasons, Quartz Hill was upset by an underdog, this time 11-9 by host Centennial of Corona in a Div A DIV Associate of Divinity . II game.

The Rebels began quickly, scoring five runs in the first three innings. But the Huskies answered, scoring six runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth to take an insurmountable lead.

In Div. II:

--Crespi 7, Sonora 2: Crespi High of Encino sophomore pitcher Mike Gilmartin had an easy job, thanks to help from his teammates, who scored seven runs off seven hits in the first inning in the second-round victory at Valley College.

Sonora starter Eric Hale retired the first two batters of the game but Trevor Plouffe doubled to right, the first of seven consecutive hits with two outs. After freshman Sean Camacho hit a two-run homer to left field for a 7-0 lead, Hale was lifted.

``This was a pretty big win,'' Gilmartin said. ``I had a feeling we'd be here. We've been playing well.''

Crespi (24-6) has won six consecutive elimination games.

Harvard-Westlake (18-8) won its fifth consecutive one-run game and overcame a 2-0 first-inning deficit as the Wolverines advanced to the quarterfinals in their first playoff appearance since 1992.
