But I feel good I'm going to state. That's everyone's goal here.'' Scott Speakman of Rio Mesa of Oxnard was the region's only other wrestler to qualify for the state meet. He finished fourth at 140 pounds. The wrestling season ended for 10 other locals who failed to place among the top eight in their respective 24-man brackets. Speakman (53-7, 36 pins) clinched a state berth by outpointing Lorezo Butanda of Northview in the 140-pound quarterfinals.
