 rival Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. La Canada (4-0), ranked No. 3 in Southern Section Div. X, had 636 yards of total offense in getting its first victory over C.V. (0-4) since a 10-7 win in 1990.

T.J. Trumbo passed for two touchdowns and ran for two - on runs of 14 and 12 yards - for host La Canada. Trumbo, who had 10 carries for 78 yards, also was 15 of 21 for for a career-high 328 yards. Trumbo had scoring passes of 66 yards to Marc Enterante (two receptions, 76 yards) and 78 yards to Nick Sparks Sparks, city (1990 pop. 53,367), Washoe co., W Nev., just E of Reno; inc. 1905. The Southern Pacific RR was the major employer until the dieselization of railroad engines forced the closing (1957) of the railroad shops there. , who finished with eight catches for 193 yards.

The Spartans' Lavelle Peterson rushed for a game-high 216 yards on 14 carries and three second-half touchdowns. The junior had scoring runs of 76, 5 and 57 yards. His last touchdown came with less than a minute to play.

Crescenta Valley, which opened the season 0-4 for the first time since 1987, played without starting quarterback Bryan Harter. Taylor Lewis, struggled in his place, completing 10 of 22 for 129 yards and four interceptions.

The Falcons scored on a 29-yard field goal by Curtis Charles in the second quarter and a 98-yard kickoff return by Grant Hardyment late in the third quarter.

--Canyon 42, South Torrance 6: J.J. DiLuigi scored four touchdowns as Canyon (3-1) rebounded from last week's upset loss to Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  with the victory at home.

DiLuigi rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns, all in the second quarter, as Canyon took control of the game. He also caught an 83-yard pass from Ben Longshore long·shore

After South Torrance scored the game's first touchdown, Canyon had the next 42 points.

Leading 7-6 after the first quarter, DiLuigi scored his three touchdowns, the last of which came after Michael Montano intercepted a pass and returned it to the South Torrance 12. Montano later scored a touchdown on a short run in the third quarter.

The Canyon defense held South Torrance stand out runners John Hokama and Davon Brown in check all night. The duo combined for 351 yards and five touchdowns last week, but were held to 62 yards on 26 carries.

Travis Marziani returned an interception 23 yards on the last play of the game.

Valencia, which was averaging 517 yards a game, outgained St. John Bosco 479 to 176.

--Notre Dame 21, Saugus 7: In what was supposed to be a tune up for next week's game against No. 2 ranked Valencia, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, ranked No. 1 by the Daily News, had to work to overcome Saugus at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. .

Notre Dame's Rodney Glass rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown, all in the second half, and sophomore back-up quarterback Dayne Crist was 8 of 12 for 160 yards and a score. Crist also rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown. Notre Dame (4-0) has won 26 straight games.

Notre Dame starting quarterback Garrett Green missed his third game because of a thumb injury, but managed an interception.

Saugus quarterback Zach Summers was 9 of 18 for 85 yards and led his team with a 58 rushing yards and a touchdown.

--Burbank 48, Hoover 7: Marcus Hood rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter, sparking Burbank (2-2) over host Hoover of Glendale (2-2).

Hood finished with 190 yards and three touchdowns. Burbank quarterback Robert Linda added 81 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

Hoover lost four fumbles and an interception. Alex Pantoja rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Camarillo (1-3) had two 2-yard scoring runs from running back Mychal Leupepe to give the Scorpions a 14-0 halftime lead.

Camarillo recovered fumbles to end two Buena drives in the second quarter. Buena has not won since 2003 and has scored just 21 points in four games this season.

Micko Ortiz carried 11 times for 152 yards and gave Glendale a 14-7 second-quarter lead on a 10-yard touchdown run.

James Clay had 96 yards on 22 attempts and tied the game at seven with a first-quarter 2-yard touchdown run. Anthony Darmiento was six of 10 for 93 yards, but had two second-half interceptions.

Derenik Gharakhanian recovered a Temple City fumble with fumble with vt fusmanosear  7:59 left and Glendale trailing 21-14. After advancing to midfield mid·field
