 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON INTRODUCES "ECO-LOGICO"
ROSEMEAD, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- (Como se dice

environmental?)
In the Los Angeles area, the answer is "Eco-Logico," a Spanish language environmental television series sponsored by Southern California Edison.
Edison has joined forces with International Creative Entertainment, an independent production company owned by KCBS-TV weatherman Maclovio Perez, to produce "Eco-Logico."
The three half-hour shows were created to communicate to the Latino community the benefits of conservation and how simple everyday practices affect the environment.
"Latinos who speak little or no English get bits and pieces of information on environmental issues, so we believe they are thirsty for focused information on how to protect our planet," explained Perez, who appears in each show. "Now, with Edison's support, 'Eco-Logico' will quench that thirst by showing viewers that all it takes to protect our environment is awareness and a willingness to apply easy tips."
"Eco-Logico" will air on six consecutive Saturdays beginning March 7 at 12:30 p.m. on the Telemundo station KVEA Channel 52.
Edison expects the program to reach a broad base of its customers. "More than 3 million of the 10 million residents in our service territory are Latino," explained Lewis M. Phelps, Edison's vice president of Corporate Communications. "A large segment of this population prefers to receive information in Spanish. By supporting 'Eco-Logico' we are reinforcing our commitment not only to the environment, but to the Latino community we serve. Edison is proud to take the lead as the first sponsor of 'Eco-Logico,'" Phelps added.
The three shows cover a wide range of topics, among them energy saving practices, recycling, water conservation and many other practical tips that are designed to take the mystery out of the "how's" and "why's" of environmental protection.
"Eco-Logico" is hosted by Maria Dubraska Pineda, an international news correspondent and producer. The producer/director is Antonia Petniunas whose credits include television broadcast and trade productions. Arturo Gonzalez, KTNQ/KLVE news director, guests on the show.
Southern California Edison serves 10 million residents in a 50,000 square-mile service territory that covers much of Central and Southern California.
