 SOUTHERN BELL RESPONDS TO CUSTOMERS
MIAMI, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Bell announced today that it

is in the process of making adjustments to approximately 10,000 customer bills. That figure may rise as itemized bills are received by customers and Southern Bell continues to encourage customers to examine services on their bills.
"These adjustments are a response to a combination of three factors: the itemized bills and bill inserts which were sent to every customer this month; a Florida Attorney General request that customers scrutinize and question their bills; and Southern Bell's full page ads which ran twice in newspapers throughout the state, encouraging customers to check their bills," said Southern Bell spokesman Spero Canton.
The company, as always, encourages customers to call with any questions they may have.
"We're not going to relax until all our customers are satisfied. Special itemized bills will continue to be distributed to customers until the middle of August and if anyone has questions or concerns, we encourage them to call us," Canton said.
The adjustments are being handled individually and there is no estimate as to how much will be credited to customers. Refunds are being made from the time the service was ordered and that often takes research into past records. Credits should appear on customers' bills within the next two billing periods.
"By the act of sending out itemized bills, we wanted to direct our customers' focus toward billing accuracy. We believe this scrutiny is beneficial for the customer and Southern Bell. This heightened degree of customer awareness will not only give us very accurate customer billing but hopefully a new level of customer satisfaction," said Canton.
