Bertha hit parts of the Caribbean with winds of up to 115 mph, causing several fatalities.

But, ``just a few hotels in the region have sustained minimal damage,'' said Alec Sanguinetti, director of marketing for the Caribbean Hotel Association, in the wake of the hurricane. ``The fact that this is the low season will enable those properties to repair the damages quickly.''

Puerto Rico was hit by rain and high winds, but sustained only minor property damage. The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. said hotels are operating normally and a full schedule of flights has resumed at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan and at other airports.

The Bahamas reported no significant damage or disruptions. Major airlines have resumed service, as have cruise ships and mail boats.
