The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
. Greenspun is expected to be officially named to the position today, said two baseball sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Greenspun, 41, is a Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  area native and has been a professional sports executive for the past 16 years. He served as executive director of finance for the Kings from 1988 to '94 and as a high-ranking executive with Disney Sports Enterprises, which at the time owned the Angels and Mighty Ducks, from 1994 to '98 before joining the Yankees.

Greenspun becomes the second major addition to the organization since Frank McCourt's purchase of the team was finalized in early February.

McCourt hired Paul DePodesta as executive vice president and general manager Feb. 16, effectively firing former GM Dan Evans.

In addition to replacing Evans with DePodesta, McCourt also accepted the resignations of high-ranking executives Bob Graziano, Kris Rone Rone (1980) is a notable street artist living in Melbourne, Australia. On Sunday, the Dodgers named Gary Miereanu, the publicity director for Walt Disney Television Animation Walt Disney Television Animation is the animated television production division of The Walt Disney Company. That is the same position previously occupied by Hall, but Miereanu's responsibilities are expected to be somewhat different. He will oversee all public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  activities, including media operations and in-house publications.

McCourt declined to comment on the Greenspun matter.

Greenspun had been with the Yankees for the past five years, working out of the team's spring-training headquarters in Tampa, Fla.

He oversaw all aspects of the team's financial operations and even had a hand in the financial aspects of baseball operations. Greenspun reportedly played a pivotal, behind-the-scenes role in last winter's acquisition of shortstop Alex Rodriguez, who is in the fourth season of a 10-year, $252 million contract.
