SOUNDSTAGE SPACE CRUNCH ALTERS FILMMAKER MARSHALL'S PLANS.

Byline: Marilyn Beck & Stacy Jenel Smith

The crunch for soundstage space has crossed our shores and invaded the United Kingdom.

Filmmaker Frank Marshall reveals that he and his wife, Kathleen Kennedy Kathleen Kennedy is the name of:

He is zooming forward with his plans for ``Mr. 3000'' - his follow-up directorial assignment to the 1995 ``Congo.'' Never too old

Charles Bronson turns 75 on Nov. 3 - and is in no mood to slow down. He has just wound up a second ``Family of Cops'' movie for CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  (a follow-up to his telepic that gave the network a ratings success during last year's November sweeps) and that's not all. There could be more - and more - ``Family of Cops'' telepics, according to producer Douglas Cramer. ``Charlie is amenable to doing them, as long as he likes the scripts.'' He adds, ``He's in great shape. He does everything. Like most stars of his level, he'll only work a 10-hour day, but he puts in a hard 10 hours.'' And Cramer points out that the premise, which has Bronson as the patriarch of ``A Family of Cops,'' gives the actor a chance to do what he does best. ``Just like all of Charlie's most successful movies, you have a situation that seems dark and hopeless, and just when everyone's ready to give up, he comes in and saves the day.''

The celebrity circuit

The country star and her musician husband, Robert Reynolds, will be taking a few months off before she heads to Australia to start her tour Down Under.

Rockasaurus Joe Cocker will be back in the key light at month's end. He has a new, unplugged-style album on the way, produced by Don Was. Cocker has been turning out albums during the past decade with multimillion-unit sales success in Europe - and little interest in the United States, compared to his ``Mad Dogs and Englishmen'' zenith.

The Halloween segment features ghosts, strange happenings and things that go bump in the night, and Freeman says filming the episode was an eerie case of ``life imitating art Life imitating art is the reverse of the normal process whereby art is made to resemble life. The concept derives from an Oscar Wilde aphorism, "Life imitates art far more than art imitates Life. . There were different little accidents and people bumping into cameras while shooting. ... We've been dancing around those cameras for a while, and things like that never happened.''

The videoland view

``Boston Common'' co-star Tasha Smith tries her hand as a replacement host for Greg Kinnear on ``Later With Greg Kinnear'' the week of Nov. 6. This is what you can expect: The comic-cum-actress who plays Tasha, the wise-cracking administrative assistant on the NBC sitcom, says, ``I think it's important for the host to be as cool and unintimidating as possible, with a warm heart. ... Some guests are scared because they think a talk-show host might chew them up and spit them out. I have a way of making people feel comfortable - then they just want to tell me stuff.''
