SOUNDS OF SUPPORT STUDENTS' CD TO HELP COUNTERPARTS IN N.Y.Byline: Karen Maeshiro Staff Writer LANCASTER - After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, students at El Dorado El Dorado, legendary country of South America El Dorado (ĕl`dərä`dō, –rā`–) [Span.,=the gilded man], legendary country of the Golden Man sought by adventurers in South America. School wanted to do something to help children in New York City New York City: see New York, city. New York City City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S. . Not being a rich school, the students found a way to raise money using what resources and talents they do have - making music. Under the guidance of award-winning music teacher Debbie Hanson, the students have recorded and are selling a CD of patriotic tunes and songs they learned about values. What do we know how to do, we can sing.'' The 875 students and school staffers hope to sell 300 CDs at $10 each. El Dorado Principal Melinda Keenan said she talked with Roberto Clemente's principal, Barbara Bankowski, who said students and staffers are still in shock and are finding it difficult to concentrate. Roberto Clemente students saw the second airliner hit the World Trade Center tower from the fifth floor of their six-story school, school officials said. ``She said many of the students were first-hand witnesses to death and destruction,'' Keenan said. Bankowski said the students, mostly from poor families, have been getting books and teddy bears teddy bear cuddly commodity named after President Theodore Roosevelt. [Am. The money raised from CD sales will go toward helping buy the show tickets. ``It's a neat way to have our kids who are so much into music and performing arts and who are also low-income on the whole to connect with other kids who are going through a difficult time and to do it in a way that supports what we are doing at school,'' Keenan said. The whole project cost $1,100, Hanson said. Parents and students were working on the project, taking CD cases apart, printing labels and putting the cases back together, Hanson said.
