The band captured 70 percent of the overall vote and won 32 hours of recording time at Wonderland Studios and a California concert tour. Phaeton Lane took second place with 19 percent of the vote, while Genesta, the only girl band, took third place.

``The Craze got the idea early and promoted themselves all over the Antelope Valley and as far away as the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
,'' said Michael Kreple, who with his wife, Jacky, owns Wonderland Studios. ``They understood that their fans would be voting and worked extremely hard to get out the vote.''

More than 150 bands submitted CDs for the contest. The Edge staff whittled the contestants down to five finalists who competed in a battle of the bands Aug. 15.

``We look forward to seeing how these young bands grow. What this contest proved was just how much talent there is out here in the valley,'' said Kreple.
