OSU (Open Source UNIX) Refers to the Unix variants that are maintained as open source, which were primarily BSD Unix and Linux until Sun made its Solaris operating system open source in 2005.  fans enjoy the flock

I went to the Oregon-Washington football game as a visitor to Autzen. I graduated from OSU in 2000, and thus, am a Beaver fan. So, naturally, I was more interested in the OSU vs. Cal game that was being played on the screens inside the club level. During the first half, I would casually check the score, not trying to show my true colors as a Beaver in Duck territory. However, at halftime, I met up with another Beaver fan friend, and quickly we became a spectacle. There we were, in bright orange, in the middle of The Club at Autzen, cheering on our team.

One would think, with all the bad publicity that Duck fans have been getting these days, that the two of us would have been heckled out of the club. But, the opposite is true. The Duck fans were polite, genuinely interested in our game, and even shared a few high fives with us. No one said anything rude. I'm sure there were private comments made about the two idiots dumb enough to show up at Autzen in OSU gear, but nothing was said to us. We were treated with respect.

Not one part of me is a Duck fan. But, you have to give credit where credit is due. The Duck fans were very welcoming to two lonely Beaver fans on Saturday.

As a born and raised Oregonian, but an alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14.  and admittedly the biggest Husky fan in Oregon, I want to thank all the Duck fans in Eugene for your graciousness and hospitality.

We have traveled to Eugene from Vale the past two years to see our beloved Huskies fall to the Ducks. We wear purple and gold in restaurants and business establishments from arrival to departure. Nonetheless, both before and after the game, we are treated as honored guests.

Aside from a little good-natured ribbing, we have never been insulted, shouted down or offended in any way. As an Oregon taxpayer and de facto [Latin, In fact.] In fact, in deed, actually.

The proposed sports redistricting redistricting: see legislative apportionment.  for Sheldon and South Eugene High Schools South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was founded as Eugene High School around 1900, and was located at Willamette Street and West 11th Avenue in a brick building that later served as Eugene's city hall.  seems unwise and impractical.

The proposal is insensitive to academic requirements in terms of classroom attendance, study time and student energy generally.

Proposed operational costs will increase while there is the possibility that attendance revenues may decrease. Spending additional monies to modify an already successful segment of the educational program would appear unfair and possibly alienating to other dollar-shy academic programs.

There is very real peril associated with the proposal. To expect numbers of people to travel far in frequently inclement in·clem·ent

Should it be enacted, costs and conditions incidental to distance travel, especially nighttime travel, will preclude the participation of many senior citizens.

The proposal does not address legacies, sense of community and "social-educational" aspects. It may seem maudlin maud·lin

Hopefully rationale for competitive equality can be applied as facilitative to academics, the entire community and the existing legacy of Midwestern League sports.

State track pays price

In a state with the population of Oregon, it is absolutely ridiculous to have six classifications for high school sports! As big as they are, both California and Texas only have five.

What this will really mess up, in addition to much larger travel expenses, will be the state track meets. For many years, Hayward Field For other uses of "Hayward", see Hayward (disambiguation).
Hayward Field at University of Oregon is one of the most well-known historic track and field stadiums in the United States. It has been the home to the University of Oregon Track and Field teams since 1919.
has hosted the 4A and 3A meets concurrently. There's no way Hayward can host 6A/5A/4A combined, so this means all the 4A kids (mainly last year's 3A) will get shipped out to the boondocks. Sad!
