SONY WONDER ANNOUNCES EAGERLY AWAITED DEBUT OF NICKELODEON'S PREMIER PROGRAMMING ON HOME VIDEO & AUDIO WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE NICK COLLECTION

 `Ren & Stimpy,' `Rugrats,' `Doug,' and `SNICK' Titles
Are Among Top-Rated Nick Shows Available This Summer
NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Wonder, Sony Music's family entertainment division, today announced the eagerly awaited debut of top-rated programming from Nickelodeon, the premier children's network, on home video and audio with the summer launch of The Nickelodeon Collection, according to Ted Green, vice president, Sony Music Group.
The initial nine home videos and one audio title released by Sony Wonder (retail priced from $9.98 to $14.98) will be available on Aug. 31, and includes titles from such popular Nickelodeon series and "Ren & Stimpy," "Rugrats," "Doug" and the "SNICK" programming block. As an integral feature of the collection, all tapes will include original Nick-style short features and vignettes.
Additionally, two Christmas-themed "Ren & Stimpy" titles, one available on home video, the other on audio cassette and compact disc, will be on the shelves in mid-September.
"Ren & Stimpy" stars Ren Hoek, the scrawny but savvy asthma-hound chihuahua, and Stimpy, his gullible feline pal. Each of the four "Ren & Stimpy" videos (running 40 minutes at $14.98 a title) is animated anarchy and features several adventures tied together by a single theme.
The two "SNICK" videos combine four very different, very Nick shows into a single viewing experience. "SNICK," Nick's Saturday block of primetime kids programming, has grown so popular it out-performs any other network's childrens programming. Each 80-minute tape (a tremendous value at $14.98 each) contains episodes of "Clarissa Explains It All," "Roundhouse," "The Ren & Stimpy Show," and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?," which are separated by "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" shorts.
The Emmy Award-winning "Rugrats" series captures the fearless and enthusiastic curiosity that show the baby in all of us. Though not yet two, Tommy Pickles and his friends are articulate and mobile but only when their parent aren't looking. The two "Rugrats" videos are $14.98 each.
Two "Doug" tapes feature 11 1/2-year-old Doug Funnie, a kid who harbors secret crushes, daydreams of being a superhero and feelings that he may be painfully average. Viewers can explore Doug's fantastic diary entries at the value saving price of only $9.98 for each video.
The music of "The Ren & Stimpy Show" is available on compact disc, audio cassette and in a cassette blister-pack with an eight-page songbook featuring original art and lyrics. Guitar riffs of the opening theme and a host of original songs are among the tunes which have been whistled, hummed and sung into cult status. "The Ren & Stimpy Show -- You Eediot" features 15 extended and re-mixed audio favorites, while "The Ren & Stimpy Show: Crock O' Christmas" is a narrative tale of serenading family friends with six joyfully twisted holiday classics, as well as four new Christmas songs. The audio cassettes are priced at $9.98 each, and the compact discs retail for $13.98 each.
The long-term agreement between Nickelodeon and Sony Wonder will result in a continuing line of home video and audio product, with titles to be added from existing and future Nickelodeon programming.
