SONICWALL HELPS MERCHANT MEET BROADBAND SECUITY REQUIREMENTS.

Recently, American Express American Express (NYSE: AXP), sometimes known as "AmEx" or "Amex", is a diversified global financial services company, headquartered in New York City. The company is best known for its credit card, charge card and traveler's cheque businesses.  introduced the Card Acceptance Processing Network (CAPN CAPN Calpain

), an upgrade to its global infrastructure that enhances point-of-sale security, supports expanded transaction amounts and incorporates a transaction lifecycle identifier. Compliance with the first two phases of the high-speed processing system became mandatory for all U.S. credit card processors on August 31, 2007. For SonicWALL and Custom Business Solutions (CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast. ), a SonicWALL Gold Partner, the new American Express credit card processing requirements bring needed attention to the importance of secure broadband for merchants in the competitive retail industry.

With the addition of high-speed processing, merchants are required by the new security standards released by the PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

Security Standards Council to add safeguards to their networks to ensure that transactions can be processed securely. Movie Tavern, the leading operator of cinema-eateries in the country, worked with CBS, SonicWALL and its credit card processing company to comply with both PCI and CAPN. Movie Tavern is using SonicWALL devices at all 11 of the company's sites while CBS provides ongoing support for the company's POS (1) See point of sale and packet over SONET.

"While CAPN is a bold step for American Express, we recognize that high-speed processing is the way that the entire market will be moving, so it is important that we have a solid and reliable processing system in place," said Scott Nixon, Director of IT for Movie Tavern. "There are enough examples in the marketplace of merchants that have been careless with their use of broadband, so it is business critical that we have a secure network, secure access points, and tight control over who sees what and when. The SonicWALL firewalls we have installed at our locations are the keys to secure our customer information and to provide necessary comfort that we will not face disasters similar to those faced by other organizations."

As a result of complying with the CAPN requirements, organizations will no longer need a dial-up modem, transactions will be processed significantly faster and they will have improved reliability. In addition, merchants will be able to authorize and submit transactions greater than $99,999 while the enhanced authorization data will help to reduce fraud.

SonicWALL provides multiple solutions to help merchants like Movie Tavern protect high-speed transactions, protect the integrity of the transaction data and protect customer information. "The world of high-speed is no longer a luxury for merchants as credit card companies are moving to broadband systems to make it easier to capture more information with each transaction, while reducing transaction times," said Charlie Jeffers, vice president of sales for CBS, Inc. "As more merchants adopt high-speed credit card processing, it is important for them to understand that security must be a critical priority. We work with SonicWALL to makes sure that the POS systems we install at our customers stores are secure, and that customer information is safe."

"Our network security solutions are being used by dozens of merchants at hundreds of locations across the country that support PCI compliance requirements Compliance requirements are a series of directives established by United States Federal government agencies that summarize hundreds of Federal laws and regulations applicable to Federal assistance (also known as Federal aid or Federal funds).  as well as meeting the new CAPN requirements of American Express," said Patrick Sweeney Patrick Sweeney is the name of several people:

"While not all organizations are directly impacted by the American Express changes, the initiative serves as a wake-up call to all merchants that high-speed processing is where the industry is moving. SonicWALL protects retail environments with a comprehensive security environment, that safeguards against application-layer and content-based attacks, and provides secure remote access and continuous data protection."
