 SOFTWARE ETC. STORES APPOINTS TWO NEW DIRECTORS
 MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 14. /PRNewswire/ -- Software Etc. Stores, Inc.,


(NASDAQ: SFWR), one of the nation's leading mall-based retailers of home PC software and video game software, today announced the appointment of two independent directors to its board.
 Appointed to the Software Etc. board of directors are Margaret T. Monaco, 44, vice president and treasurer of The Limited, Inc., and Denise K. Fletcher, 43, president of Fletcher Associates, inc.
 Their appointments are effective immediately.
 Monaco has been vice president and treasurer of The Limited, Inc., a specialty retailing firm, since 1987. Her responsibilities include banking, cash management, corporate finance, insurance and card processing. Prior to joining The Limited, Inc., Monaco was vice president and assistant treasurer of Primerica Corporation.
 Fletcher is the president of Fletcher Associates, inc., a management consulting firm she founded in 1988, which offers specialized expertise in finance, marketing, strategic planning, human resources and public relations. From 1989 to 1990, Fletcher was chief executive office of Communications Venture Group, Ltd., which launched the CONFETTI group of six women's magazines. She was corporate treasurer of The New York Times Company from 1980 to 1988, where she was responsible for financing, acquisitions, investment analysis, cash and asset management, employee benefits administration, insurance, pension and shareholder relations.

 In April 1992, Software Etc. completed an initial public offering of 2.3 million shares of its common stock at $11 per share. The offering was made through an underwriting group managed by Robertson, Stephens & Company and Dillon, Read & Co., Inc.
 Software Etc.'s 247 stores, located in 38 states and the District of Columbia, stock broad assortments of home personal computer software, supplies and accessories, video game software and systems, and computer books.
