Camarillo High has advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Section Div. I softball playoffs each of the past two seasons but the road back will be considerably tougher this season.

Camarillo (20-7), ranked No. 3 by the Daily News, drew the winner of a wild-card game between No. 7 Hart of Newhall and Littlerock for its first-round matchup, set for 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Hart (17-11-1), which finished in a three-way tie for the Foothill League title but lost a three-way coin flip to go into the playoffs as a third-place team, will be favored over the Lobos, who are making their first postseason appearance in school history but are nonetheless a dangerous team.

``Whoever wins (the wild-card game) is a pretty good team,''

Camarillo coach Jack Willard said.

If Hart prevails, Friday's game will be a rematch of last season's playoffs (won by Camarillo) and a game last month at the Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  tournament (won 5-4 by Hart).

The second round won't get much easier. The Camarillo-Hart/Littlerock winner probably will play Thousand Oaks, ranked No. 2 by the Daily News. The Lancers lanc·er

``We're not looking past anybody, but if we win (Friday) I'd be excited to play Rosary,'' Valencia pitcher Christina Ross said. ``We underachieved last year and a lot of people think we underachieved the last three years so I'm excited to get a chance to prove ourselves again.''

Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (29-1) and Village Christian of Sun Valley (17-10), last season's two area Southern Section champions, were seeded first and fourth in their respective divisions. Oaks Christian is the top seed in Div. IV and will host the winner of a wild-card game between Bishop Montgomery of Torrance and Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914.
