SOFTBALL NOTEBOOK; SAUGUS GIRLS MAKE THE MOST OF OPPORTUNITIES.

The Saugus High girls' softball team knows how to capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

The Centurions (2-0 in the Foothill League) got important wins over Quartz Hill and Canyon last week, and both games were decided on errors. Saugus beat the Rebels 1-0 and the Cowboys 2-0 on unearned runs. But the Centurions also played flawless defense. Pitcher Jennifer McLarty (4-1) did a solid job to get both wins.

Division III (or DIII) is a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the United States.

--It runs in the family: For a person who has never played softball, Hart coach Cathy Giordano has been successful leading her team. The Indians are 7-2.

It must be in the genes. Giordano has two daughters who play Division I softball. One competes for Washington and the other for Arizona. Giordano's niece, who also played softball in college, recently graduated from Ball State University and is the head coach at Agoura.

``Her entire family is very talented,'' said assistant coach Roland Wrinkle Wrinkle
