SOFTBALL NOTEBOOK: SAUGUS WELCOMES NEW ACE.

One thing Saugus High's softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. ``She's doing really well there,'' Huff said. ``It's where she's been playing in travel ball.''

--Defensive clinic: Hart shortstop Emily Sudik made several spectacular defensive plays in the Indians' Hart Tournament victory Saturday over Hoover of Glendale.

``She was unconscious,'' Hart coach Cathy Giordano said. ``Anything she touched turned to gold.''
