Staff Writer Talk about a false start. Spring break is usually something high school players and coaches look forward to, but the timing of this year's break comes just after the Foothill League softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies' season started. Hart will not practice until Saturday and Giordano hopes her players use the time to ``re-focus'' on the rest of the season. Hart lost to Valencia for the sixth consecutive time Tuesday but rebounded to defeat Canyon on Thursday. ``I think what we really have to do is work on our execution, we haven't been doing a good job of moving runners around the basepaths,'' Giordano said. ``It was a better second game (against Valencia), but we still didn't score against a good defensive team like Valencia. Just putting the ball in play isn't going to get the job done.'' --Saugus doing well: Yes, that's Saugus atop the Foothill League standings along with Valencia. Granted, only two games have been played and Saugus has not yet played Hart or Valencia, but the Centurions are showing signs of life after missing the playoffs the past two years.
